The Worst Guy by Kate Canterbary

4.0

Great story with some necessary and some unnecessary depth. We are treated to vague stories from a Geologist? Psychological dissertations and introspection?
Overall- I just loved Sebastian. I love that he was a emo-goth as a teen. How he just wanted her to "pick me". His love for competitive cheerleading and complaining. How he jazz hands when he talks of "leaves".

How he could be meltingly sweet:

"I wanted to show her off tonight. Stand in front of all of our friends, loop my arm around her waist, say, "Do you see? This one's mine." At the same time, I wanted to barricade us behind locked doors and under cozy blankets, press her hand to my chest, and say, "Do you see? This one's yours."

His issues made it hard for him to express himself and his biting tongue didn't make it easy to talk to him. Not that Sara had a clue as to what was happening to his feelings!

And Sara, Shap, Shappiro- she had her own issues, some struck home with me and some felt like page filler, but overall I enjoyed this story. Interesting twist with the intestinal issues and causes. The ending felt a little flat but I understood why after Sara explained what she needed. And her Aha moment.
