Beach Read by Emily Henry

5.0

I was a little wary of the "girl is attracted to and fixes man with past trauma" trope threatening to blossom as I made my way through it, but this novel won me over with the protagonist's lush story of grief and her growth, the theme of writers' block, and how impeccably Gus and January's paradoxes are woven together. No spoilers for those who haven't read it (you should go do something about that), but when January finally discovers what her father left, I was simultaneously punched and caressed right in the feels and cried, yes cried, out of the fictional but powerful love I was feeling coming off the pages. SO GOOD.
