The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

funny hopeful informative inspiring lighthearted fast-paced

I don’t usually go out of my way to read non fiction books very often. However, this one really called to me. So, I took the chance and read it, and found myself unable to put it down. This is unusual for me as someone who has to slowly pick away at non fiction. Kondo writes directly, clearly, and casually. Reading her words was almost like taking advice from a wise friend or an older sister. You can tell that everything she writes about comes from a genuine place of care for her clients/readers and passion for her profession. As a chronically untidy person, I have felt, for the first time in a long time, confidence in being able to get a handle on my belongings. Kondo’s theory of tidying is not just a set of rules that we have to fit ourselves into, but a new perspective on life that is meant to fit to the individual. Lessons that I have learned in this book could easily be applied to more areas in life besides the keeping of a home. For all these reasons, if you are like me and have felt the call of this book, I highly recommend you answer it.
