Ordinary Notes by Christina Sharpe

dark emotional informative reflective

5.0

this is a stunning collection of notes centered around the experience of Black life in both a public and personal way, exploring the effects of the way words are used to talk about Black people using examples of socio-political events, literature and art of the past and present, media, etc. they are individual notes that standalone but also intricately weave together in their connectedness of content and themes. it’s insightful and beautiful and important. Sharpe makes meaning out of ordinary things to illuminate anti-Blackness in its many forms

i want to read it again already. it’s a book you need available on your shelf so you can come back to it over and over
