why this didn't work for me:
1) the first half was sooo sloooowwwww... i really considered dnf'ing at several points because the story wasn't picking up at all and i felt like dorothy koomson spent too much time setting everything up.
2) why was that first scene with cece dropping the kids off at school repeated three more times from three different perspectives?? i didn't need that and it was boring to read.
3) i don't love multiple pov narratives to begin with but then to keep breaking up the narrative with flashbacks just took me out of the story every time; there must have been a better way to blend them in without specifying the date, which i didn't need to know. particularly the chapters where the women are confessing to cece about their past and in the middle of their stories they kept going back to the present to show us cece's reaction??
4) the culprit was barely in the story at all and it felt like koomson just pulled this out of thin air
