Did I love this book? No. Did the author write with everything she had, giving her all to these characters? Yes.
I feel bad not reviewing this higher, but something about the unrealistic way Luke and Tess spoke to each other really never allowed me to connect with the characters. Everytime we had a meeting between the two of them didn’t sit right with me, and it felt forced. I understand Tess losing her mom at a young age would’ve been tough, but holding a grudge for that much time for a high school kiss/crush seems far fetched.
The last part where they publication decided to flip the script and feature their love story as the front cover story really added to the unrealistic nature of the story. I get it, it’s a book, but I just couldn’t see any of this actually happening.
The reason I stayed with the book was the writing style. She’s so talented. I just didn’t enjoy the story and I think as guilty as I feel writing a somewhat negative review, I think that’s okay!
