I'll start with a mea culpa: I've read and loved other books from Lyra Parish (Fall I Want and the Very Merry books), but I hadn't read any from the Billionaire Situation series. And while I knew most of the characters form Fall I Want (Harper is the Zane's sister) I wasn't completely prepared for it.
The first part of the book completely caught me off guard (even thought there were trigger warnings and such). I'm not typically a grey characters kind of girl, and romantic suspense is not usually my jam. I'll be honest: I thought of DNFing it because when Harper was beeing kept hostage it was starting to making me feel uncomfortable.
However, I kept going, because of how much I loved the other books from Lyra Parish I read, and it got better. Once the graphic part about the gaslighting and kidnapping was out of the way I enjoyed the characters, their chemistry and the plot. Was it resolved a bit fast? Compared to the rest of the book, absolutely. Did I enjoy it overall? The second part yes. Will I read Nick's story next and catch up with the previous books? The jury is still out, probably yes if it's lighter than this one.
