The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio

3.0

I've been meaning to read The Decameron for ages and it felt appropriate to read it during the plague of our times. I found majority of the stories interesting and quite funny, although as a whole it was a real slog as it's super sexist, full of moralising lectures and the translation reflects the age of it by use of very archaic language (my edition has 1505 footnotes, mostly to explain archaic words). All in all, I'm glad I've read it but I don't think I will be rereading it.
