purrested_development 's review for:
A Light in the Flame
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Enjoyed:
-the character growth for Sera
-meeting our main villain
-the chemistry between the main characters
-when there was action and discussion happening, it was enjoyable
Had a rough time with:
-modern dialogue/colloquialisms ("you do you")
-too much inner monologuing (!!!!) I don't mind some inner processing but this was pushing into "main characters just need to actually talk to each other territory*l"
-a bit repetitive for the first 3rd of the book: Nyktos tells her not to do something, she does it anyways, he's mad, they are both turned on, they hook up, rinse, repeat
-the whole concept of "Nyktos being incapable of love", I know this is part of his arc and it's going somewhere but his actions and this plot line do not align at all
