Probably the best book in the series so far—strong chemistry and intensity between Sloane and Lucian.
Some chapters were a bit slow or boring, but expected since Lucy Score is known for slow burn romances.
Sloane is super likable—kind and a little "fiesty."
Lucian was kind in the past, but after family issues, he became distant and emotionally closed off.
Book includes mentions of domestic violence during Lucian’s teenage years—intense but important to note.
One thing that didn’t make sense:
→ Their grudge lasted 20+ years, even though Sloane clearly acted out of care.
→ Would have made more sense if the characters were in their 30s, not 40s.

Lucian’s sudden emotional shift felt rushed:
→ At first, he pushes Sloane away for her “safety.”
→ Then suddenly becomes protective and declares they’re together.
→ Sloane resists for a second, then agrees—but the transition feels abrupt.

Wish the book had shown Sloane gradually accepting Lucian’s care, instead of skipping to “we’re a couple now.”
→ Would have loved to see that emotional progression instead of the slower chapters.

Same with Lucian suddenly agreeing to have kids—we needed more insight into why he changed his mind so fast.
Still love the friend group characters, and it was nice seeing them all doing well - shout out to the Knockemout men for showing vulnerability and admitting the women they are with are too good for them.
Glad Anthony Hugo finally faced consequences. (Also: wild that prisons can be privately owned in this country.)
Moderate: Alcoholism, Domestic abuse, Violence, Grief
