What an excellent book that leaves much to think about. Nancy French is honest and brave telling her story that includes just …so much! I especially love the twist on the title that comes together at the end… I won’t give anything away; no spoilers here!

While this book does contain a story centered in a political subculture , I would not necessarily call it a political book… It’s a book about humanity and finding one’s way in life. That being said… Back to the politics… There’s always been some form of cruelty and politics because… Human depravity… But there is a notable difference in the last 10 years in the way people treat each other based on their political beliefs. a story that was about Ronald Reagan… After being shot, his nemesis from across the aisle was one of the first people to come and see him in the hospital. Their Politics didn’t trump their humanity. After Nancy and David decided they could not support Trump in the 2016 election, they were ostracized and villainized by fellow Christians and Republicans. It was quite messy, and eventually, Nancy is led to share the story of her sexual abuse that happened in the church (and was covered up by the church) when she was 12. The social/cultural response was really hard to read about.

At any rate, it’s amazing to see how Nanci is eventually used by God to come full circle and expose the Kanakuk Camp cover up.

The ending is perfect and hopeful! God is good!
