Etched in Stone by Liv Arnold
2.0

This is the first book I have read by Liv Arnold, and the premise instantly intrigued me. Vanessa agrees to investigate the new company she is working for in order to protect her kleptomaniac mother, and it just so happens that the drop dead gorgeous, kind and totally swoon worthy CEO Sebastian has it bad for her.

This should have been a no brainer for me, I love the corporate billionaires, but I struggled with this book. It slowed down and I almost didn't finish. Additionally I felt that the POV used withheld a lot of the story, i would have loved a dual POV. Additionally, I felt there were inconsistencies with the terminology and slang used. While the characters are American and the book is set in San Francisco, there was language that appeared more British or European. When this occurred it interrupted the flow of the story for me. I also found the ease of Vanessa and Sebastian's relationship a little unbelievable. He is the CEO of a major corporation and they were dating with very little drama from her colleagues and other employees. It seemed too easy.

I think I went into this with high expectations so it didn't quite hit the mark for me, but I would give Book 2 a chance, and try future books by Liv Arnold.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.
