The third volume of Akira dials up the chaos and conflict. With Tetsuo seemingly destroyed by the space laser the hunt for Akira is on. Kaneda and Kei find him first in the rubble. But then the mysterious Lady Miyako (test subject #19) sends out one of her disciples called Sakaki, a girl that can move at incredible speeds. Meanwhile the colonel and his army and mister Nezu are also part of the hunt.

A race against the clock starts the different characters make their way through the city. With each betrayal Akira moves into the hands of the next person. With Ryu probably being the most kind to Akira.

They all end up together near the waterside of the city as Sakaki is killed off and mister Nezu bleeding to death at the hands of Ryu takes aim at Akira. But he misses and hits Takashi (test subject 27) instead. This finally unlocks Akira's powers and Neo-Tokyo is blown apart. In the wake a very much alive Tetsuo approaches Akira.

Volume 3 makes volume 2 feel like a walk in the park. The action never stops and it's brutal. Characters meet their demise and Neo-Tokyo is altered forever. Armageddon is close as nothing can seemingly stop Akira anymore. But with three volumes still left i can't wait to see how this unfolds. I am obsessed.
