I wanted to like this book so badly. The overall idea/story behind it is one of my favorites, even if it is a bit of a rip off from Assassins Creed or even, to a slightly lesser extent, Stargate. But Christ is the writing terrible and WHY did you have to go auto-love story? You couldn’t just leave it at adventure and be good with that?
That’s probably the biggest killer of the whole book - the romance is forced and the stupid fight(s) between them are exhausting and annoying. It makes it impossible to read past in order to try and get to the more fun parts - the aliens, their “downfall” and the trail/clues they left behind.
