So sweet, full of the purple prose that makes L.M. Montgomery so distinct. Thank goodness Anne of Green Gables caught on and became popular or this would be just another obscure prewar romance.

A fanciful little novel--mute girl somehow plays the violin beautifully and believes she isn't beautiful and man falls in love with her and the romance is FORBIDDEN. Anne Shirley would have loved it.
