First of all, this book will trigger the heck out of your eating disorder. Beware.
This book was uncomfortable to read. Would I have enjoyed it more if I had a cultural reference point for the author? Hard to say. In general, I don’t enjoy irreverent writing about a serious topic. This book was entirely that. This author has suffered extensive abuse. The work she’s done to reckon with and treat the results of that abuse is absolutely admirable. Full stop. That being said, I didn’t enjoy this book.
I almost quit reading with 75 pages left, but I made myself finish it up.
