this book made me cry at least three times, and i had to sit and read it, transfixed, from start to finish.
as a nonbinary butch, i've never felt so seen and reflected in any work of fiction as i have in this book. ive never seen anyone else spill the secret longings ive always had in my own soul. ive never wanted to be like anyone as much as i want to be like jess, or even leslie feinberg hirself. especially leslie feinberg hirself. i barely dare to hope i leave as beautiful a legacy as zie did, in hir activism and in this book.
