I didn't think I could love a series more than Magnolia Falls but Laura Pavlov is setting up Rosewood River to top it. It might help that we get a guest appearance by Beefcake (it's such a perfect moment!), but the introduction to the Chadwick brothers & this forbidden workplace romance just knocks it out of the park. I absolutely devoured this story & cannot wait for Book 2 (it's set up at the end of this one to be SO GOOD!).
This is a perfect workplace romance that starts off as a bit of an enemies-to-lovers but quickly turns into more of that forbidden, secret office romance. Easton Chadwick is the perfect grump who gets knocked off his @ss by his boss's daughter, Henley Holloway, who has come to work for their law firm. He doesn't know how to handle these feelings and all his preconceived notions about his boss's "princess" daughter are dismantled as he gets to know her. He falls hard & fast and those feelings are only compounded by the complexities of his past, which much of this story is about. The grief that Easton holds onto and how that impacts his emotional & mental health is dealt with in such a careful & realistic way. I absolutely loved his story.
Henley grew up with a silver spoon but doesn't act like it. She's fierce, hard working & is the person that everyone gravitates towards. She's the sunshine to Easton's grump. I loved the banter between these two & how Henley puts Easton in his place (who doesn't love a good pickleball match?). While much of the story is about Easton's journey, Henley has some interesting backstory we get to see. And the introduction to her best friend Lulu is so fantastic - you know there's so much more to Lulu that we'll see in the future.
Easton & Henley have incredible chemistry that is built on tension & wit. Once they give in, they are in & there's not much of a wait before Easton claims her. The spice is perfection! This is such a great introduction to this new series and I am so excited to see the HEAs for all the Chadwick men.
