Mein verlorenes Land: Die Geheimnisse des Schattenmarktes 7
by Sarah Rees Brennan, Cassandra Clare
This is the seventh novella in the Ghosts of the Shadow Market collection, which follows Brother Zachariah as his visits Shadow Markets throughout the years. This story is more recent in the timeline, happening parallel with the ending of Lord of Shadows.
I really enjoyed reading from Alec's POV again, as he's one of my favourite characters in the shadowhunter world. It was interesting to see how he finds and adopts Rafe. This novella is the longest out of all 8 and had so many connecting plot points to The Dark Artifices and previous novellas in this collection. We learn that Mother Hawthorne was the person who gave Matthew Fairchild the poison he gave to his mother in Cast Long Shadows. We also learn that Kit is the lost Herondale child, which we kind of already knew. BUT what we didn't previously know was that Kit is not only the lost Herondale child, but he's also the lost true heir of Faerie! I'm really looking forward to see how that comes into play in QoAaD.
I read this novella collection right after finishing Lord of Shadows and before starting QoAaD. There is a conversation Alec has with his dad that would have taken place right before the final events of Lord of Shadows and it made me cry because it was so heartbreaking to know what took place after that phone call ended. I was a mess.
