The Faebound series in general has been fairly lackluster for me. It's not terrible, but I found the foreshadowing to be really in-your-face, which made the plot twists anticlimactic. And much like the first book, I feel that the relationships between the characters are not explored enough, but rather the characters are used in ways to just further the plot. Especially Saloweh's death (I'm not sure if I spelled that right because I listened to this as an audiobook). Like it would have really been interesting to see Saloweh and Furi interact more, but instead Furi just kills her on sight? Also seemed out of character for the fae since they have the whole "no killing" rule as a main pillar of their society Lastly, because I listened to this as an audiobook, I thought it was sort of weird that the fae had British accents when the book is influenced by African cultures. I feel like I remember the accents being different with the first Faebound book, more in line to what I'd imagine for characters that take inspiration from different African countries, but I could be remembering that wrong since it's been a while since I've listened to the first book.
