Casino Royale by Ian Fleming
2.0

This book really has three distinctly different acts: casino hijinks, torture festival, romance. I was truly not prepared for how very much all the setup was really a prelude to a romance novel.

I could've done without Fleming Explains Bacarat for Far Too Long, and we get it, Bond thinks ladies are useless. Also, Fleming is the king of dangling modifiers. They are (unintentionally) humorous. One of my favorites:

"As a woman, he wanted to sleep with her."

I'll try one more Bond novel, but I'm not sure they're for me.
