The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

5.0

I'm not usually a fan of classical books, especially ones with such a strong overarching religious theme, but I found myself liking Hester more and more as I read on. Hester holds such strength, one that goes far beyond physical means. She manages to carry on when things seemed hopeless, and held thoughts way before their time (e.g. feeling that women should be treated equally to men). For these reasons, I fell in love with her.
Against all odds, I found myself really enjoying this book. Literature that is assigned to me for English class is always tough for me to get through, but this one was not. I'm glad I got a chance to read it.
