The Circuit: Stories from the Life of a Migrant Child by Francisco Jimenez

4.0

Great vignettes from a migrant worker's childhood. I wanted more! Young Francisco has a winning voice, a mix of innocence and realism and optimism. For once, the Spanish sprinkled in felt just right and not awkwardly educational. Ditto on the social justice themes. Not heavy handed, but I LOVE the way it ends with pointed irony and not a happily ever after.
