I read this book a few years after it came out. At the time I believe I was applying to art school or looking at them, I'm not sure. But I was going into photography and so this memoir was shared with me for those reasons. I had enjoyed it at the time. I found it interesting that the author mentions a teacher of hers, that would be the director of my program. It is interesting to see the point of view of a female photojournalist. her experiences are exciting and also worrying. But soon after I would start that program and dislike that teacher, and so my perception of the book is now tainted. Sorry, we can't always be just to our books.
