I read this as i have been intrigued by what it was about, especially given that it kept garnering so many nominations...
It tried to be witty at some parts, tug on the reader's emotions at others.
I appreciated how the author delved into the mother-daughter relationship or should i say lack thereof.
Did not appreciated the bodily references or the incest. Just came off as just being unnecessary gross or vulgar.
Ultimately, this felt like the author tried too hard to get attention. When she focussed on aspects of the mother ailing from dementia and the confusion the daughter experienced, that felt real especially given the complexity of the relationship.
I couldn't really feel anything for the protagonist though i tried. She just came off as kinda...and i feel bad for saying this but she was just goddamn annoying.
