I absolutely loved this! From the chuckle-worthy not-so-meet-cute, to the genuine exploration of the long-lasting effects of trauma, our MCs are just amazing, real humans finding their way to one another.

Messy, imperfect, but relatable.

Abby is gun-shy and skittish after a total a-hole ex and I think if any girl (or guy!) out there can even remotely relate, she's a great mirror to reflect our own hesitancy in future relationships. And while she's understandably initially resistant, her open-heart and kindness are literary BFF worthy!

Nick, a true good yet scarred and flawed man, does his best with what he has. But even better, he recognizes his shortcomings and actively seeks to improve himself. He's not afraid to be told when his actions have hurt Abby and takes the steps necessary to do better. He learns.

Paige, Baylee, Dax, Mav, Hazel, even Jinxy for all his faults, are all amazing supporting characters and the kinds of friends you hope for yourself! Also imperfect, but so so genuine.

This was my first book in the series and I'm definitely going to go back and read all the rest! I can't wait to both see more of the backstories of characters mentioned here but also explore the wider world Lex Martin has created!

I think my only teeniest critique would be a tiny nit-pick: a few times the characters felt much older than they were intended to be. More mature, more responsible. In this book it still mostly works, but a few times I definitely caught myself thinking the were 5-10 years older.

SO excited to read Paige's book that is coming out soon!

HIGHLY recommend this if you love college romances, single-dad, and two green-flags finding one another!

Thank you to Grey's Promo and Lex Martin for this ARC!
