Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews

"𝗜'𝗺 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀." 𝗜 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼'𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗸. "𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀."

Daughter of Sparta is a reimagining of the Greek myth of Daphne and Apollo. I know some people have trouble getting into Greek mythology because of its dizzying world of gods and what not... but I think Andrews wrote this in a way that you don't need to have extensive knowledge and you can easily enjoy her take on this myth.

On her quest to hunt down the 9 items stolen from Olympus, Daphne's accompanied by her wolf sidekick, the ever so charming god Apollo and others that make up this dysfunctional rag tag group to save Olympus and the mortal world from chaos. In all seriousness, if I were given this task and had to work with Apollo, Olympus and world would be doomed. Daphne has been trained to be a Spartan warrior, and desperately wants to prove her worth and be accepted. Once she sets her mind on something she doesn't give up. Blood, sweat, tears (lots of tears) can't hold her back as she spears through riddles, beasts and gods.

I got questions! I need answers! Some scenes felt like they were done before they even started 😂 and I just needed a little oomph! Overall with its lush writing, female empowerment, action, adventure, humor and romance, there's potential here and I definitely will be reading the sequel!

"𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗵𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝘆, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲"

“𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱.”
