I found it to be a slog for the first few chapters but it picked up for me in the later chapters (esp. Nan Shepherd, Anais Nin, and Cheryl Strayed). 

I appreciated learning about some female writers (mostly from UK) and some places to "tramp" (locations mentioned are mainly in the UK).
