Athica Lane by Brynne Asher

5.0

Edit on 6/18, 2 days after I read this book- I'm bumping this up to 5 stars. The difference between a 4 and 5 star book for me is the way it hits me emotionally, if I'm going to re-read it... I can't really explain except it's a gut feeling for me. I didn't return this book in KU, I went back and started highlighting it and have been constantly re-reading my favorite passages. So, def a 5 star and new fav!

Wow! Did I love this more than Brynne Asher’s Killers series?! Maybe…

This was a single dad, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity romance.

After a guy knocks his huge drink onto her, Paige is shocked when the grumpy guy who refused to apologize turns out to be the dad to the kids she’s watching for a week. (They live next door to her sister, and Paige is watching them and her nephews after a summer camp while her sister’s out of town.)

Cam is divorced, has two jobs (one of which is his own business), a crazy ex… he shouldn’t be drawn to Paige, who’s sweet and a little absent minded and younger than him, but he is.

The chemistry between them is hot fire flames. I don’t like romances with pregnancy but something about single parent romances give me the warm fuzzies. Cam’s kids were so cute and watching the relationship form between them and Paige was adorable. I do wish after the third act conflict we got more of the relationship repair between Paige and Jordy, we never got to see them 1:1 after that.

This book is almost 500 pages and I read it in one sitting. You just ROOT for them both so much.
