Sanshirō
by Natsume Sōseki
I like this book. A portrait of a man separated from the world by its change and his inability to meet that change. Neither nostalgic for the past nor heavy handed in critiquing the future. Just as he says - a stray sheep. Like so many of the Japanese novels I have read from the early 1900s, the struggle to grapple with a world being changed still remains a persistently modern sentiment - then and now.
