An okay junior reading book. The writing and characters are a bit silly. It was very concerning how the book treated death, the protagonist causally kills a magical bird and thinks she kills other people, dragons routinely eat people, and yet it is mentioned and then brushed aside. It was annoying that the author didn’t put much thought to descriptions, things are confusing and not imaginative if we don’t get a description.
For example we are told a dragon’s color and relative height but not much else which makes the story confusing as we are left wondering about them holding things or doing something.
