The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente

5.0

I knew this was going to be exemplary and fantastic and mesmerizing and wonderful, and I still was not prepared for how much of that it ended up actually being. Books like these are the exact proof that fairytales are for all ages, and books like these remind me, as a reader, why stories are the strongest form of magic. If I loved it any less, I may have been able to talk about it more.

(The protagonist's name being September is such a flex to me, personally, a twelve year old* ill-tempered girl born in September!!)

*I wish, I'm over double that age, but nothing like a good tale to make you feel child-like adventurous wonder
