The Murmur of Bees by Sofía Segovia

5.0

This was an unexpected and a pleasant one read.

I do not read Spanish, so I cannot speak to the quality of the translation other than to say that this reads very well. Had I not known it was originally in another language, I would never have guessed.

The mystery of Simonopio’s origins and powers is never completely explained, but it doesn’t need to be, and the exploration of farming life in Mexico during the Revolution all combine to weave an interesting backdrop to this family’s tale. I was taken in immediately and enjoyed my trip to this world thoroughly.
