The Bodyguard by Katherine Center

3.0

This was a cutesy RomCom that found a way to be vulnerable by exploring forgiveness and self-worth. This one serves forced proximity, workplace romance, and fake dating. Hannah, our FMC, finds herself as the bodyguard for famous actor, Jack Stapleton.

A lot of this just read as silly to me. A lot of it pissed me off too. It’s basically implied throughout the book that Hannah is ugly (WTF?!), and her ex and “best friend” were the worst. But, I really loved how Jack and Hannah’s relationship developed, the focus on forgiveness and self-worth. Hannah navigating if she’s lovable/enough hit real close to home. Overall, this was a quick and cute read, and I appreciated the focus on heavier topics.
