(4.75 ⭐️) NEW COMFORT BOOK UNLOCKED! Where do I even begin. This book is so fluffy and adorable, not once was I bored reading this. I loved the characters so much they felt so real and human. I loved every aspect of it. From the academic rivals to lovers trope, the writing, the game, the characters, THIS BOOK SERVED! I was not expecting to like a Ya romance book this much. And it’s the perfect read for high school students especially seniors. Or to read at the end of a school year.
I loved Kirby, mara, and Rowan’s friendship so much. I loved Neil and Rowan’s banter, chemistry, character development, AND THE LOVE CONFESSION?!
I loved Rowan so much. I love that she loves romance novels and wants to write one herself, I love that she has a pear-shaped body and is not insecure of it, I love how realistic she is. (She did get on my nerves in a few scenes but I can’t help but find her a relatable character)
I loved Neil so much. How much he cares about his mother and sister, how understanding he is, I love that he has emotions and shows them, I love his nickname for Rowan, I love that he loves words, i love his freckles. I love that he’s Rowan’s height, many people don’t but I am personally tired of the “standard” tall boy and small skinny girl trope. (Obvs there’s nothing wrong looking that way but emphasizing it in every book is tiring)
However my only complaint is that we got no epilogue, or didn’t even see their graduation. And how Rowan changed her mind so fast, Neil’s feelings are understandable. But Rowan went from hating him to loving him in just one day, that’s the part I found really unrealistic but idc I still love this book and the characters.
