I first read this when I was 17, and I loved it. Rereading it now 44 years later, i see the flaws I missed before. The casual misogyny of the 70s, the annoying qualities of Teela Brown, the absurdity of the idea of breeding for luck, and the way Louis treated both Teela and Prill as merely sexual objects.
The Ringworld itself was an amazingly imaginative construct, something I might be tempted to explore in some of the Ringworld sequels.
