This book is for anyone who loves YA fantasy with tragic family dynamics, enchanting fae worlds, magical monsters, reluctant heroes, and a childhood friend/fated mate love interest. This one's for anyone who read Cruel Prince but wished it was queer. This one's for anyone who's tired of being told how to live and wants to make their own way in the world, even if it's messy and it hurts. I enjoyed this book for all those reasons, and I appreciated the care that the author brought to the story from the author's note, to the diverse cast of characters, to the surprise cliffhanger ending.
