Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett
5.0
Such an enchanting read!
If you're a fan of faerie lore and cottagecore simplicity, this is for you!
The book follows Emily Wilde and her journey to a small town so that she can research a nearby Faerie population. Emily has made her life work to make a Fae Encyclopedia and understands them more than most humans do. Accompanied with her is Wendell, who forces himself into her research. With his own motivations in joining her, the two of them discover many secrets of the Fae nearby the town.
While this is a slower paced book, I loved it. I love Emily's social awkwardness and desire to learn more. Wendell definitely has his charms and reminds me a lot of Jacks from Once Upon a Broken Heart.I also love Fae princes as love interests, so I definitely liked him.
I also loved Emily's relationship with the town as she begins to have people care for her for the first time ever.
I do think the ending felt a bit rushed and honestly wished that them leaving the town was just part of the second book.
As a fan of the cruel prince, if you want a softer version that's focused only on learning more about Fae, I'd recommend this to you.
