I started with Malevolent King as I saw that Renato's sister was referred to in this book and that she was already married. I got through about 30% of the book and just got irritated with Sophia. I'm so glad I didn't give up on this author then and tried this book instead.

I really enjoyed reading about Renato and Charlie. She is strong and a fighter, looking after herself and her younger sister after both their parents died when they were teenagers. She is putting herself through nursing school while working 2 jobs and trying to keep her sister, Lucy, on the straight and narrow. A difficult task as it seems Lucy is determined to find trouble. This leads them to Renato, the head of the Italian mafia and a deliciously bad man.
Renato is controlling and possessive and definitely used to getting what he wants and having things done his way. That is until he meets Charlie.

They are so great together and yes there are scenes where it was pushing the controlling boundaries for me but Mila Kane was good at not going too far. This book is sexy and spicy with a lot of push and pull between the main characters. I also enjoyed the side characters except for Lucy. I know she is young and naive and has gone through a lot but wow I did not love her. There were many times I just wanted to give her the boot.

Another great positive about this book, it's a complete story with no cliffhanger. What a refreshing change from many of the books released lately.
