What I love about this book is how much it has to say about doing things for the "greater good." It talks a lot about how far someone may go to do what they believe is right. It really encapsulates one of my favorite things about the later books in the series: how the Baudelaires feel like their actions are just as villainous as Olaf's, regardless of their virtuous intent. It was my first introduction into the "see yourself become the villain" trope, and it's just as poignant today.
