Your Silence Will Not Protect You: Essays and Poems by Audre Lorde

This is such a beautiful and powerful collection of essays and selection of poetry from Audre Lorde’s rich and full life of work.
I learned a lot about the identity she held of ‘Black lesbian feminist’ and how those identities intersect, motherhood, white feminism, and institutional racism.
Because Lorde was a poet, her essays read the same way, and while you know you are learning, you are also feeling deeply because it is clear she felt those words deeply too.
Her poetry is wonderful. I could not have taken everything from it that is possible so I’m looking forward to revisiting her words.
I would recommend this to everyone who wants to feel and learn at the same time.
