The Chronicles of Narnia
by C.S. Lewis
This is my all time favorite set of books. Yes, it is based on Christianity. C.S Lewis wrote this at the time he was exploring Christianity and I see this as his way of exploring and trying to make sense of it. This is what many fantasy novels are (or should be). It should be the author's explorations into ideas and concepts. It should make you as the reader think, consider, and explore with the author. You may not agree with the author, but the fiction should let you are the reader ponder and consider and form your own opinions.
C.S. Lewis does this very well. Especially putting this in a form that children and learn to think and consider as well.
Personally, I am a Christian, and I found that his thoughts are similar to my own. That is one reason I enjoy these books.
