Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward

5.0

This book has a special place in my heart. If it hadn't been for Rhage's book, I probably wouldn't have continued on with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I'm so glad I did! The first book was a little cheesy for me, but the depth of character and general banter and hilarity that Rhage brings to this series cemented me as a life long fan.

I recommend Black Dagger Brotherhood to all romance readers, and all readers who love action.

However, I have a few issues with this book. While I understand Mary's hesitancy to be in a relationship, the fact that she doesn't believe or trust Rhage for most of the book bothers me.

Then Rhage has a "slip up" and goes out to be with another woman at a bar. He is sick about it afterwards, but this breaks one of the most solid rules of the romance genre. Once the main couple meets, they cannot be with any other characters romantically. There are few authors that break this rule, and J.R. Ward is one of them.

It is necessary for the plot, since he never does it again. I wish this book was a little longer. However, we get much more of these two in the other books.
