After Sappho by Selby Wynn Schwartz
5.0

After Sappho has handed to me a list of artists of all forms, the many Sapphist predecessor to modern day. Schwartz paints their lives with the dramatic colours of Van Gogh, and just three brushstrokes each. I felt like I was dancing around time with each paragraph.

My rating is almost certainly over generous, and we’ll have to see what I think about this book in a couple of months’ time. Definitely not a book I would recommend to everyone, but absolutely worth it, and gave me the first excuse to think about A Doll’s House since A Level English… Has certainly convinced me to read Virginia Woolf!
