I have been putting this book off for the longest because I was afraid of what it would do to me, and my guy was right! It had me on a rollercoaster of emotions.

A Love Letter to Whiskey is beautiful, it’s heartbreaking, it’s hard to read at times, it’s hard to stop at others, and it’s one that stays with you long after it’s done. It felt like more than just a book, like these characters are truly out there somewhere.

B and Jamie’s love story is messy and painful, but just feels so real. There’s so much deep love between them, so much passion they try so hard to restrain and fail miserably at because they’re so weak when it comes to each other. There were so many missed opportunities and bad choices that you just want to shake the characters. I actually had to stop listening to the audiobook during B’s parts because it was too easy to hate her if I detached myself from it, I had to read her with my own voice. And she is so angry at herself as she details her story that you know she’s aware of all her mistakes. Reading Jamie’s side of the story was healing though, and it was then hard to hate her when he reminds you that he was also at fault. And he loves her so much, and she makes him happy that you have to let it go and see her through his loving eyes.

This is the kind of story where the real villain is life that gets in the way. But B and Jamie’s love is so strong it just keeps resurfacing until they finally get their HEA. It is a grueling 10 year journey to get there, but it does indeed happen and it’s so worth it! I cried a lot with this book, and some of my biggest tears may have been at the end at finally seeing them getting to be happy together.

It may sound crazy after this long winded review basically detailing all the ways in which this book has hurt me, to say that I absolutely recommend it and is an easy 5 star ⭐️ read, but that’s the truth. I read to feel and get lost in a story and this book completely swept me away! It’s going on my list of favorites now.
