The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac
3.0

I was suprised how much I enhoyed this. I read it in the 70's becuase it was a Kerouac book and was taken by the tales of the beat generation and their search for enlightement through travel, talk, speed and booze.

This time round that all seemed rather adolescent, but I was really taken by the descriptions of mother nature and its universal connectedness while up in the mountains and the cabin in the woods. It ends with him setting off for a spell as a forest ranger in Desolation Peak ( as per a later book Desolation Angels).

Still a self centered male tale, despite the different readers perspective 50 years on.
