This is, ashamedly, the first Paige Toon book I've ever read and now I need to immediately read everything she's ever written.

Hannah is a dispensing optician and meets Sonny when he comes in for an eye test. They instantly like each other but on his next visit, he is slightly off with her.

Hannah has come back to house- and dog-sit for her uncle Charles and she sees Sonny leave the counsellor next to her house. She realises that he has his issues that is not wanting to share, but she does too.

They are soon thrown into the same circles as Sonny's best friend Archie is in a relationship with Hannah's new friend Matilda. Hannah and Sonny's own relationship grows in a very deep way, platonic at first, and it is so beautiful to read.

I cared a lot about these characters and the issues and trauma they have faced are very well-written and developed. They felt real.

This is a gorgeous friends to lovers novel with some deeper topics. Loved it!
