Charlie? Perfection. Ruby? Perfection. Together? Unbelievable.

Ruby has SVT, a heart condition that has already killed both her mother and aunt. Because of this, her brother and father are very protective of her. Ruby is tired of her sheltered life and wants to live a little, so she makes a bucket list, gets in the car with a map, and drives to wherever.

Ruby eventually ends up in Resurrection, where she meets Charlie. Charlie is a scarred cowboy who ran away from home after a traumatic incident and opened up Runaway Ranch where his brothers soon followed him.

When Charlie first sees Ruby, he instantly feels a part of him come alive that he thought wasn’t there anymore. Ruby is just passing through for the summer, but they realize that they have a connection. Ruby becomes the sunshine to Charlie’s grump and he decides he likes smiling again. He doesn’t want to let Ruby go even though they agreed it was just for the summer.

THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING!! The vulnerability shown between the characters seriously had my heart hurt. Seeing the scars that these two have held so close was so visible.

Seeing how Charlie cared for Ruby had me swooning for this cowboy. I was rooting for them the entire book because they both deserved so much happiness. Charlie slowly came out of the sadness that he lived in for a decade, and even his brother's noticing was so heartwarming.

With no third act break up, all the cowboys, all the emotions, and a love story worth rooting for - I couldn’t help but love this book and instantly knew that it was 5 stars once I finished it.

I absolutely cannot wait for the next book and to see which brother we get to read about next.
