Hallowe'en Party
by Agatha Christie
This is the first Agatha Christie book I’ve read, which I picked up for the name given it’s the Halloween season, and it did not disappoint. I like the murder mystery genre, though typically avoid reading anything too scary, and what is great about Christie is you get just the right amount of danger and intrigue without real fear or threat. The story unfolds so beautifully, and though I’ll be admittedly arrogant enough to say I figured out who the killer was before the text got there, but having never read Christie before, IDK if the killer is typically figured out by most before the end? I don’t want that to be true, since I like that I figured it out but also because her books are so widely (the most widely) read around the world that it’s nice to think I solved the puzzle faster than most. Though I did not figure all the connections, especially concerning the Butler’s, but still. It’s definitely an entertaining, fast read, and if you’re a fan of the genre, definitely worth picking up.
