This was disappointing…
After reading It Ends With Us I was excited to read another book by Colleen Hoover. HOWEVER, this fell far short of my expectations. The internal dialogue of the different characters were unrealistic and cringey at best, particularly the chapters dedicated towards an 18 year old Miles. It felt like it had been written by a teenager.
The storyline was basic, despite some effort to create depth to the characters (we don’t find out Miles’ story until the last couple of chapters of the book). The entire midsection of the book was just sex scene after sex scene and I found it boring and unnecessary. I am happy with a bit of smut in a book as long it adds to the story line, but this in no way helped shaped the characters or their story and so it all seemed like sex for the sake of writing about sex
I don’t want to write any spoilers so I think I’ll leave my review there. I do not recommend this book as anything deeper than an easy holiday read, which, having said all of the above, I did somewhat enjoy it as.
